LONDON -- Jaguar Land Rover is replacing its director for manufacturing as it prepares its plants for an electrified future, the automaker said in a statement.
Executive director for manufacturing, Wolfgang Stadler, is retiring from the company to be replaced by Grant McPherson, currently director of quality and automotive safety.
McPherson will "oversee the ongoing investment into our UK and global manufacturing," CEO Ralf Speth said in the statement.
McPherson joined Jaguar Land Rover in 2011 after a number of years working for Honda in the UK. He held the role of operations manager at JLR's Castle Bromwich plant before being promoted to director of quality and automotive safety in 2013. He will take up his new role on July 1.
JLR operates three factories in its UK home market but is building its first electric car, the I-Pace, in Austria with contract manufacturer Magna Steyr.
JLR CEO Ralf Speth told Reuters earlier this year he is waiting for more information on trading conditions after Brexit before he decides whether to make electric cars in the UK.
