Virginia has taken a football commitment from Jairus "Jai" Satiu, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound wide receiver and outside linebacker from Orem, Utah.
Fork Union Military Academy coach John Shuman said that he was aware of the commitment, which was announced by several recruiting sites on Wednesday, and was scheduled to meet with Saitu on Thursday night to discuss a post-graduate stint at FUMA.
Satiu is the first player from Utah to commit to UVa since Bronco Mendenhall became Virginia's head coach following the 2015 season. He came after spending 11 seasons at Brigham Young.
Shuman said Satiu belongs to the LDS church but had no information on whether he planned to serve a Mormon mission in the near future. He would be either the sixth player in UVa's 2019 recruiting class or the first for 2020.
