The City Council of Willoughby Hills recently voted to eliminate several staff positions that, initially, forced the closure of the Willoughby Hills Community Center, including the Art Gallery. That led to the cancellation of the “Three Media Show” scheduled to open with an artists’ reception on May 11

However, the center has remained open despite the staff elimination, but as of May 2, the show was still a no-go.

“We won’t be having the art exhibit because the artists don’t feel confident that there is not staff in the building to guard the art because their paintings are expensive,” Willoughby Hills Mayor Robert Weger told The News-Herald.

My sympathy to artists Florence Smith, Patti Pinkerton, and Angela Sabetto, who have been working to fill the gallery with their lovely artworks. If you have an opinion, please feel free to contact the Willoughby Hills City Council members. Phone numbers and emails are listed on the city website, willoughbyhills-oh.gov.
