With latest technology, multiplexes render an enjoyable experience

Movie buffs in the city are now having a reason to cheer! For years, they have been heading to Vijayawada for a better movie watching experience where a clutch of multiplexes have sprung up on MG Road. Now, as many as three multiplexes have come up in most popular areas in town, offering a mix of entertainment, food and shopping experience.

Before 2005, there was not a single air-conditioned movie hall in the town. Hollywood-Bollywood, twin movie halls on Lakshmipuram Road, offered a semblance of multiplex viewing experience, but many movie halls were still using 0.3 projection systems and later upgraded to 2K projection system and Dolby surround systems.

Thanks to advances in media technology, which provides enhanced colour rendition on silver screens with the prowess of Barco 4k projection and the powerful sound of Dolby Atmos, for the movie experience has never been so exciting as it is now.

Platinos Cinemas on Ring Road that opened in March last year has four screens, JLE Cinemas on Palakalur Road has six screens with a combined seating of 3,000 seats. Cine Prime, which is a renovated movie hall has also become popular among movie lovers. “Our vision is to provide our customers the best possible experience. We began by experimenting with projection systems in Siva Cinemas. And now, Platino Cinemas is the first multiplex in town. With a seating capacity of 820, we offer the best of entertainment- right from the food to the ambiance and decor, which has been designed keeping in mind the discerning taste of the audience,” said Alla Nagarjuna Reddy, managing director of Platinos.

Reclining seats

Recently, the Chennai-based popular multiplex chain, SPI Cinemas, has launched a state-of-the -art multiplex ‘The Cinema’ at KSP Prime Mall at Kothapet. The five screen multiplex with a seating capacity of 849 also offers gold class experience replete with recliners. “The Cinema is one of the many brands under SPI Cinemas and we feel that it’s perfect for Guntur. This is our first cinema in Andhra Pradesh and we are sure that the people of Guntur will enjoy the seamless and easy-to-use online and offline experience The Cinema provides,” said Swaroop Reddy, president, SPI Cinemas.
