Harrison East Elementary is raising money in observation of Autism Awareness Month throughout May.

Intervention specialist Jen Starr has planned fundraising activities for students, including wearing blue in honor of National Light It Up Blue Day, a Battle of the Classes in which the class that raises the most money for Autism will win a party and balloon launch, a special staff member being duct-taped to a wall, a candy sale and third-graders reading facts and tips about Autism each morning during the morning announcements to share with the entire student body.

A portion of the money raised through these events will be donated to Autismspeaks.org and the rest will be used to support the needs of the school’s students with autism.
