Herbalife Nutrition Ltd. shares traded between slight gains and losses in the extended session Thursday after the nutritional supplements company's quarterly results topped Wall Street estimates. Herbalife shares were last up 1.8% after hours and had been down nearly 3%, following a 0.6% rise to close at $106.25. The company reported first-quarter net income of $82.1 million, or $1.08 a share, compared with $85.2 million, or 98 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted earnings were $1.40 a share. Revenue rose to $1.18 billion from $1.1 billion in the year-ago period. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had estimated earnings of $1.11 a share on revenue of $1.12 billion. For the year, Herbalife estimates earnings of $5.05 to $5.45 a share, while analysts expect earnings of $5.34 a share.

Herbalife Ltd. shares ticked slightly higher in the extended session Tuesday after the nutrition products company said it was splitting its stock and changing its name. Herbalife shares rose 0.3% after hours, following a 0.3% decline to close the session at $102. The company said it was changing its name to "Herbalife Nutrition Ltd." and announced a 2-for-1 stock split. The name change is effective on Wednesday, and the stock split is effective May 7 with May 14 as the stock-split distribution date.

Shares of Herbalife Ltd. rallied 1.1% in premarket trade Wednesday, after the nutrition company said it commenced a self-tender offer to buy back up to $600 million worth of its shares. The company said it will not pay greater than $108.00 a share, which would be 4.8% above Tuesday's closing price of $103.02, or less than $98.00 a share, which is 4.9% below. The tender offer is scheduled to expire on May 16, at 5:00 p.m. ET, barring an extension. "The company believes that the repurchase of shares pursuant to the tender offer is consistent with its long-term goal of maximizing shareholder value," Herbalife said in a statement. The stock has soared 52% year to date through Tuesday, while the S&P 500 has gained 1.2%.
