Bhopal: Union’s protest at BU averts interviews of candidates under outsourcing


Bhopal: The Barkatullah University (BU) has to cancel the interview to the post of 90 non-teaching employees in the wake of protest by employees association on Tuesday. The matter came to light as the contingency employees in the establishment section realized that the university has called in around 90 people for interviews for various non-teaching post like computer operator, matron.

The employees association became active and protested against the university’s move to outsource the various works of the university. The employees association demanded that the university should regularise its contingency workers before roping in new employees under outsourcing scheme.

The association also opposed university’s decision to employ any new worker other than computer operators. The protest continued for around one and a half hour. Sources in the university said that the registrar threatened one of the protesting employees with suspension for getting into an argument with him.


UN Shukla, Registrar of BU said that the university has accepted the demands of the employees association and have appointed the President and the Vice-President of the employees association as a member of the committee which is responsible for appointing employees on outsourcing, said Registrar. However, Shukla denied that the 90 persons were called for the interview. He also denied threatening any employee with suspension.
