The much-anticipated three-day weekend that marks the beginning of summer is almost upon us. And hand-in-hand with the prospect of a Bank Holiday come the dilemmas of dressing for all the different scenarios you have plotted into your diary.
If you're in need of a dose of inspiration, then the Telegraph Fashion team is here to lend a helping hand. Here's what we'll be wearing for...
A day on a British beach
This weekend I'll be sunning myself (hopefully) on the beautiful beaches of Devon's coast (lovely) with my boyfriend's colleagues (scary). Usually I'd throw on a hoodie and a pair of old shorts but this weekend I'll try look more sophisticated.
A floral mini summer dress and plimsole combo works well for all of our activities, from beach to pub, and this drawstring coat will look great tied around my waist and, should the heavens open, be quite useful too. HE
Silky dress, £25, Monki; Drawstring coat, £225, Hunter; Superga flatforms, £62, Urban Outfitters; Shopper, £26, Warehouse; Initial slides, £3.50, Accessorize
A weekend in the country
With weather as temperamental as it has been, I can't go anywhere without my Uniqlo down jacket; it rolls up into practically nothing, and is perfect for a weekend in the country when the weather could turn at any moment. Simple jeans, a light trench for layering and leather trainers complete the look, just add a country pub and keep fingers crossed for sunshine. OP
Ultra light down jacket, £59.90, Uniqlo; Slim ankle jeans, £49.99, H&M; Hooded trench coat, £49.99, Zara; Cashmere jumper, £300, Bella Freud; Isabel Marant leather low-top trainers, £295, Matchesfashion.com
A garden party
I'm celebrating a friend's birthday in her garden (weather permitting) but as she lives in town, it's BYO flower garden, hence this Paul Smith skirt. I'll dress it down with a striped tee and these wear-everywhere sandals from Dune. Not pictured: the magnum of rose... CGE
Wrap front skirt, £450, Paul Smith; Breton, £57.50, Petit Bateau; Sandals, £80, Dune London; Straw bag, £29.99, Zara; Mazzimi sunglasses, £250, Zan Zan
A holiday in Baltimore
I'll spend most of the long weekend at 30,000 feet, en route from London to Baltimore and back again. The land of Hairspray! and The Wire may not be anyone's dream bank-hol destination, but I just checked the weather and noticed that it's supposed to be 30 degrees. Enter sundresses, sandals and multiple sunglass options. Happy holidays indeed. EC
Hatch midi dress, £300, Net-a-Porter; Sunglasses, £43.40, Madewell; Leather raffoa bag, £89.99, Mango; Earrings, £50, Isabel Marant; Rainbow sandals, £180, Ancient Greek Sandals
A fun weekend in Ibiza
I'm jetting off to Ibiza this weekend, where I'll (hopefully) be greeted by temperatures north of 20 degrees celsius and sunshine. Hooray! I'm a sucker for summery accessories, so will be taking as many headbands (which also protect a scalp susceptible to sunburn), pairs of sunglasses and big earrings as I can fit in my over-stuffed case. OBS
Headband, £7.99, Zara; Sun earrings, £120, Soru Jewellery; Lazul top, £115, and bottoms, £110, Harrods; Square basket bag, £80, Zwina Habibi; Staud linen jumpsuit, £340, Net-a-Porter
Lazy weekend
My May bank holiday involves very little, and while this means I dont need to adhere to a dresscode, or have to doll-up for a particular occasion, I do, sadly, still have to get dressed. So what does weekend wear look like for me? Here's my Sunday best... SW
Converse Allstars, £64.99, Office; Cotton jacket, £165, Toast; Tote, £40, Land's End; Citizens of Humanity indigo jeans, £260, Harvey Nichols; Vegas Shirt, £135, YMC
Dinner with friends
I'm being optimistic, so am hoping to wear this gorgeous green midi dress with bare arms and sandals when I go out for dinner with friends on Saturday night. The reality? I'll obviously have a jumper to hand to throw over the top when it's inevitably freezing. CL
Madeleine Thompson cashmere sweater, £250, Net-a-Porter; Maxi dress, £249, ME+EM; Leah jewelled flats, £98, Boden; Rose gold bangle, £225, Monica Vinader
Shopping for spring clothes
I'm such a winter baby that I hadn't realised 80% of my wardrobe is so prepared for snow that it took me an age to find something to wear in the recent heatwave. The plus side to that however is that I get to go shopping for some spring-appropriate outfits.
Since it will be warm this weekend, I'll pair a simple dress with slides for ease while I'm trying things on in fitting rooms. A chic cross body bag will leave me hands-free to carry as many pretty blouses as I can manage. KT
Linen dress, £42, Warehouse; Opal slides, £109, Kurt Geiger London; Snake skin bag, £119, Massimo Dutti; Tortoiseshell sunglasses, £55, Le Specs
