Gur ends muted in Delhi, rises in Muzaffarnagar

The wholesale (jaggery) remained steady in the national capital today as prices continued to be enquired at last levels on scattered deals.

On the other hand, prices rose in Muzaffarnagar due to paucity of stocks amid speculative buying.

Marketmen said insufficient stocks position due to the halt in supplies from manufacturing areas on adverse weather conditions, pushed up the prices, especially in Muzaffarnagar.

In Muzaffarnagar, Chakku prices rose from Rs 2,300-2,625 to end at Rs 2,450-2,800, showing a rise of up to Rs 175 per quintal.

prices also advanced by Rs 25 to settle the day at Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,900-3,000, pedi Rs 2,800-2,900, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,200-3,300.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,100-2,150, chakku Rs 2,450-2,800, khurpa Rs 2,450-2,500 and Ladoo Rs 2,600- 2,700.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,500-2,650 and dhayya Rs 2,600-2700.
