M.A. Vahid says UDF govt had allotted 2.43 acres for Kazhakuttam

Former MLA M.A. Vahid has accused the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government of sabotaging the proposed bus terminal-cum-commercial complex of the Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) at Kazhakuttam.

According to him, the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) government had allotted 2.43 acres of land for the project. In addition, 61 cents of poramboke land was also allocated.

Later, the authority called for a tender and a contractor was identified. The then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the construction work on 8 February, 2016. But, the work was stopped as soon as the LDF government came to power. The display boards of the project and the bus terminal were removed. The current MLA had been trying to abandon the project. But when the public of Kazhakuttam opposed this, the MLA declared that no such project existed now, alleges Mr. Vahid.

He said the current controversies over the land between Technopark and TRIDA were manufactured to scuttle the project.
