US slams 'abusive' North Korean regime

The U.S. State Department on Wednesday commented on North Korea's human rights record, calling the regime "one of the most repressive and abusive governments in the world".

This comes days after the U.S. praised North Korea's Un's "honorable" intentions ahead of a possible meeting between the two leaders.

The U.S. condemned decades of "egregious human rights violations" suffered by the North Korean people at the hands of their own government, as quoted by

State Department said, for over 60 years people of have faced human rights violations and are denied fundamental rights.

The administration, however is looking forward to the Trump and Kim one-on-one meet as it is considered to be a potentially historic summit.
