Historic Zoar Village will hold a presentation for its free speaker series at 1 p.m. May 12 in the Zoar Schoolhouse, 221 E. Fourth St.
The presentation will be part of Zoar’s Maifest spring celebration. Historian and author David Dixon will reveal details about Ohio Gov. Charles Anderson, another Gettysburg Address speaker who delivered his speech after Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address” on Nov. 19, 1863. Anderson’s concluding speech remained lost until recently, when an anthropologist stumbled upon it in a cardboard box at a remote ranch in Wyoming.
Dixon earned a master’s degree in history from the University of Massachusetts in 2003. His articles appear in numerous scholarly journals and magazines, and he hosts “B-List History,” a website celebrating obscure characters and their stories.
No reservations are required. Free parking is available near the schoolhouse.
