Elon Musk Calls Media Questions ‘Dry’ in Odd Earnings Call

In Tesla’s quarterly earnings call Wednesday night, Elon Musk called reporters’ questions dry before suggesting he begin taking questions from YouTube instead.

The call, which was described as “odd” and lacking concrete answers by one analyst who spoke to Business Insider, allegedly began with Musk being in a rather chipper attitude. It took a turn, however, when one analyst inquired about Tesla’s capital requirements going forward.

“Excuse me. Next. Next,” Musk said to the moderator. “Boring, bonehead questions are not cool. Next?”

At another point, he responded by cutting off an analyst and taking questions from YouTube user @Gfilche, who runs a channel on the site focused on technology and Tesla stocks.

“We’re going to YouTube. These questions are so dry. They’re killing me,” he said.

This moment appeared to be lauded by fans of Tesla on Twitter, but didn’t resonate as well with Wall Street. Musk’s dismissal of analysts and reporters, as well as the company’s reported $710 million loss, sent shares tumbling over 7 percent Thursday. The company did post its best-ever earnings, however, beating analyst expectations at $3.4 billion.

Prior to the call, Musk tweeted out a link to a report on the Q1 results, followed by a link to a post on an Instagram page of a ‘woke frisbee‘. We’re not quite sure what a woke frisbee is, but there’s a Tesla fan or two out there that would probably buy one if Elon started selling them.
