Nagpur: Virendra Kukreja, standing committee chairman at the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), has directed the officials to complete
cement concrete
road projects phase-I and II by June end. This has come up as a latest deadline which too is unlikely to be achieved by the civic body.
The state government has planned monsoon session of the state legislature in the city for a month beginning July 4. It seems June end deadline was for matching monsoon session.
Kukreja held review meeting of cement concrete road projects phase-I and phase-II on Wednesday. “Works should be expedited from now onwards. Officials in association with contractors should pursue with the police department for stretches where permissions are awaited for beginning the works. There should be no compromise with quality. Bills of contractors will not be cleared if quality not up to the mark,” he said.
Commenced in June 2011, Rs123 crore — cement concrete road
project phase-I was supposed to be completed by June 20113. As on date, works are going on 14 of total 30 roads under the project.
Announced in December 2014, bhoomipuja of Rs324 crore — cement concrete road project phase-II was performed in March 2016. Target was to complete the project within a year. Works are underway on 48 of total 59 roads under the project.
Chief engineer Manoj Talewar, executive engineers Naresh Borkar, Aniruddha Chauganjkar, Moti Kukreja, DD Jambhulkar, engineers and contractors were present in the meeting.
