Chandigarh SSP Traffic requested Ayushmann Khurana on twitter to help make the city honk free.

To make the ‘no honking’ campaign of Chandigarh police a success, the traffic department have approached city lad and Bollywood superstar Ayushmann Khurana to promote their initiative among the city residents.

Chandigarh senior superintendent of police (SSP) Traffic Shashank Anand requested the Bollywood actor on twitter to help make the city honk free.

He wrote, “Hi @ayushmannk ji - it would be our honour if you could promote the #MakeChandigarhHonkFree campaign in your home town. Hoping for a positive response. Thanks, Shashank, SSP Traffic Chandigarh (sic).”

Traffic officials said that Ayushmann has a connect with the city and holds special place in the hearts of Chandigarh residents. Anand was also seen putting ‘no honking’ stickers along with his team of traffic police officials at various traffic signals in the city during the 29th road safety week.

Meanwhile, a UT traffic police constable Bhupinder has come up with a song to support the ‘no honking’ campaign in the city.

The song starts with: “Veh jaan jaan ke mainu tu gussa chadhai janna ha. Bina gal ton horn bajaye janda hai (why are you making me angry by blowing the horn unnecessarily).”
