Polair, dog squad search for man in inner-city suburb after home invasion, stabbing
Polair, the dog squad and plain-clothes and uniform police officers swarmed part of inner Brisbane on Thursday in the hunt for a man in relation to a stabbing earlier this week.
The search spanned about three hours and concentrated on the suburb of Taringa after a 20-year-old man was stabbed several times during a home invasion.
Police confirmed officers were searching for Marcus Richardson, who detectives want to speak to in relation to the incident at a Todd Street residence in Taringa about 6.30am on Tuesday.
Thursday's search began about 10.30am but was called off about 1.30pm, according to a police service spokesman, after the man was not found.
Police said some officers may remain in the area, but the search had been largely scaled back.
Mr Richardson has been described as aged in his 30s, Caucasian in appearance, about 180 centimetres tall with a thin build, brown balding hair and blue eyes.
Police said they wanted to speak with him after an intruder forced his way into the Taringa residence and confronted a man and woman, both aged 20, who were sleeping inside.
A fight broke out between the intruder and the man and the occupant of the home was stabbed several times in the neck, hands and upper body. The intruder fled on foot.
It is believed the intruder was known to the man and woman.
The victim was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The woman and two children, aged 1 and 3, who were also inside the residence at the time were not physically injured.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact Policelink on 131 444 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
