Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that state was witnessing a change in the last one year with development gathering pace and benefits of government schemes reaching the target audience bringing smiles to the deprived sections of the society.

“Before March 19, 2017, the buzzwords in Uttar Pradesh were dynasty, goondaism and corruption. Investors were afraid to invest in the state due to the apalling law and order situation. But in one year, law and order has improved and there has been a marked improvement in work culture,” Yogi said while addressing a seminar ‘Uttar Pradesh Vikas Samvad’ organized in Lucknow on Wednesday.

The CM said these changes have resulted in investors showing confidence in investing in UP. The success of Investors’ Summit in February, could be gauzed from the fact that over 4.68 lakh crore investment was promised in two days. In last three months, projects worth over Rs 1 lakh crore are closed to realization.

“A year back, investors were not ready to come to Lucknow. But now UP has become a preferred destination for investors. This has been possible only because of some path-breaking decisions taken by the government including increasing regional connectivity and strengthening road networking across UP,” Yogi said.

The CM added that the government has opened employment opportunities through skill development mission and in the next three years, government expects to generate 33 lakh jobs.

“The Defence Corridor project is set to change the face of Bundelkhand. It will not only generate employment but also increase connectivity between Jhansi and Delhi,” Yogi said.

The CM also spoke about various steps his government had taken including waiving of crop loan and purchasing wheat and paddy directly from farmers.

“Last year 37 lakh meteric ton wheat and 43 lakh metric ton paddy was purchased. The money was directly transferred to farmers’ accounts thus weeding out corruption and middlemen,” he said.

Union minister of state for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha said that the Yogi government was working at the speed of bullet train.

“In civil aviation, Uttar Pradesh is number 1 state. Earlier in UP, only two or three airports were functional and that number has now gone up to 20. New terminal will be set up in Lucknow,” he said.

Sinha said that the transformation in air travel has been tremendous. “Air travel per kilometer now costs less than an auto rickshaw fare. Passengers now prefer air than upper class train journey. In the last four years, the number of air passengers has doubled while the number of airports has gone up from 75 to 100,” the Union minister said.v
