Market Now: Nifty FMCG index rises on gains in Godrej Consumer Products, ITC
Kotak Mahindra Bank was leading the pack of Nifty gainers, rising over 5 per cent.
NEW DELHI: Gains in shares of Godrej Industries (up 4.74 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (up 2.84 per cent), Marico (up 2.84 per cent) and Dabur India (up 2.11 per cent) were keeping the Nifty FMCG index up in trade.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.81 per cent up at 29,005 around 12:45 pm (IST).

Shares of Jubilant Foodworks (up 1.73 per cent), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (up 1.60 per cent), ITC (up 1.42 per cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (up 1.22 per cent) and Britannia Industries (up 0.41 per cent) were also trading with gains.

However, United Breweries (down 2.03 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 1.12 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 0.51 per cent), United Spirits (down 0.34 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (down 0.25 per cent) and Emami (down 0.18 per cent) were in the negative terriotry around the same time.

Equity benchmarks were trading with small gains ahead of US Fed policy outcome. Metal, PSU banks and IT counters were experiencing the heat of selling.

The NSE Nifty50 index was up 7 points at 10,746, while the BSE Sensex was 74 points up at 35,234.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Kotak Mahindra Bank was leading the pack of Nifty gainers, rising over 5 per cent.

HCL Tech, however, fell over 4 per cent in the Nifty50 index.
