UP Govt will organize Workshops for the welfare of farmers

With an aim to increase production and double the income of farmers Uttar Pradesh Government will organize Workshops for the welfare of farmers across the state on Wednesday where farmers would be educated about government schemes.

“The BJP Government is committed to increase farmers’ income by 2020. Various projects have been launched. This has come to our notice that farmers across UP are not well versed with these projects so this workshop will be organized in the state,” Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi told reporters here on Tuesday.

Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (workshop for welfare of farmers) will be held at all the state’s development blocks with collaborations with all departments. Agriculture department would be the nodal department. Elected representatives including MPs have been asked to attend these workshops.  

BJP’s Kisan cell and local leaders have also been asked to attend these workshops 

The minister said it will not be just sarkari bhashan but will have interactive sessions where successful stories of farmers will be narrated so that this act as an inspiration.

 “The aim is to educate farmers about the government policies as well as welfare projects government had launched.  Agriculture scientists will visit 500 places in the state and hold direct interactions with farmers, briefing them about high yielding variety of seeds and modern agricultural techniques,” he said.

The minister said that scientists will also talk about benefits of multiple cropping and how modern system like drip irrigations can help farmers earn more money. “Seven progressive farmers from every block will also be honoured on the occasion. This will include a woman farmer and a farmer belonging to the scheduled castes category,” he said.
