Gang of 3 offers lift to executive, robs him

GURUGRAM: A senior manager of the private security firm Group 4 Security, was allegedly robbed by three men after he was offered a ride in a WagonR by its driver and his accomplices.
The accused snatched his laptop, wallet, two rings and mobile phone, before dumping him near Delhi Cantonment. An FIR has been registered at Sector 18 police station. Similar incidents have occurred in the same area in the recent past, but police are yet to identify the perpetrator.

The complainant, Rakesh Chopra (35), a resident of Dwarka, works as a senior manager at Group 4 Security, whose office is located in Sector 39.

According to his complaint, around 9pm on Monday, he reached Iffco Chowk and was waiting for transport to reach home. A WagonR stopped by, and when he enquired if he could get a lift to Dwarka, the driver agreed. There were two other men sitting in the car, who he thought were other commuters. “I was sitting on one side in the rear seat, with the two other men. When we reached Delhi Cantonment, those two men snatched my bag containing a HP laptop and a mobile phone. When I tried to resist, they threatened me, snatched my rings and wallet containing Rs 1,500. Finally, they starting trashing me and drove off after pushing me out of the car. I can identify the accused if I see them. They were young men between the ages of 25 and 30 years,” Chopra said in his complaint, filed on Tuesday.

An FIR has been registered against three unidentified robbers under sections 379A (snatching) and 34 (common intention) at Sector 18 police station. “We are investigating the matter by trying to identify the car and the accused with the help of CCTV footage. The accused will be arrested soon,” said ASI Gulab Singh, the investigating officer.
