After a lot of speculations, the Kapoor family made an official statement confirming Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding date. According to the official statement released by both the families, the wedding is all set to take place on May 8, 2018, in Mumbai. And we may have found their beautiful wedding invite floating about on the internet. The actor, who recently called wedding cards a waste of paper and bad for environment, seems to have sent out e-invites to her friends and family to join her on her big day.

Sonam’s fan pages on Instagram are sharing images of stunning, artful cards adorned with painted flowers and plants.  The festivities will start on May 7 with the mehendi ceremony. The invite says that the dress code for the function will be ‘shades of white’. With celebrities rehearsing for their performances during this event, it will surely be a star-studded affair. The wedding ceremony will be held during the afternoon on May 8. The ceremony will be held following Sikh traditions, otherwise known as Anand Karaj. For this, the invitees have been asked to wear Indian traditional attire. The couple has also requested their guests to not bring them any gifts. “Your presence on our special day is the only gift we desire,” it says.

Sonam had recently said that she finds the idea of a big wedding wasteful and would like to get married at her own home. She said, “I’d rather have a wedding at home than anywhere else. I think it’s important to do all the rituals, but I don’t believe in spending all that money, I find it disgusting and very wasteful, and I’m not okay with that at all.” Her father, Anil Kapoor’s residence, has already been decked up with beautiful lights for the big celebrations.

Anand Ahuja is a businessman based in New Delhi.
