These roads will be financed by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB). The construction of these roads will be carried out in a time bound manner and once construction is over these will connect villages with the state highways, the spokesman said.

Among the roads which will be constructed are: the 48 km long Mohanlalganj-Morrawan road, 79.42 km long Budaun-Bilsi-Bijnore road, 36 km long Bulandshahar-Anupnagar road, 59 km long Muzaffarnagar-Barot road, 55.77 km long Gola-Shahajahanpur road and 88 km long comprising Kaptanganj-Narain Nagar and Gauri Bazar-Rudrapur road.

The state cabinet has also revised the rules for acquiring land for construction of a private university in the state. Earlier, the rule was that an approval can be granted only if there is 40 acres of land in urban areas and 100 acres in rural areas.

The proposals had dried up because private players were finding it hard to acquire such a huge area of land. The government has proposed a new rule under which the urban area requirement has been reduced to 20 acre and for rural areas it is 50 acre.
