Metro Rail to be fully functional in 2 months

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.T. Rama Rao has assured completion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail works in the next two months, and said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao will inaugurate the project from L.B. Nagar.

The government is planning to take up Musi Expressway along Musi river on priority basis, after the project gets environmental clearance. Of the 52 signal-free junctions planned by the government under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), works have been launched for 18 with an expenditure of ₹3,000 crore, Mr. Rama Rao said, after opening the Chintalkunta underpass near L.B.Nagar for public.

The 540-metre underpass was constructed as part of the SRDP at a cost of ₹18.7 crore and is the third facility to be launched under the project.

Mr. Rama Rao also spoke about the works to contain water stagnation and assured that construction of a lakh double bedroom houses in the city will be completed by March next year.

Later on, he had a review with Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan and senior officials about the foundation ceremony for Uppal flyover scheduled for May 5.

MP Ch. Malla Reddy, MLAs Krishnaiah, T. Krishna Reddy, Shambipur Raju, and other officials attended the event.
