It's no news that the Ford Endeavour is set to receive an update soon. But, now, with spy images surfacing on the internet, we believe it might happen sooner than expected. Sold as the Ford Everest in the international market, a test mule of the SUV was recently spotted doing rounds at the company's HQ in Dearborn, Michigan.
Spied images reveal that the changes on the SUV might only be limited to the aesthetics. These include a reworked radiator grille, fog lamp inserts, a silver finish on the lower part of the front bumper and all-new six-spoke alloy wheels. Changes on the inside include the addition of new features like keyless entry and a push-button start.
Internationally, the Ford Everest will get a brand new 2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. It will be offered in two states of tunes - the single turbo version with an output of 182PS/420Nm and the twin-turbo, which develops 216PS/500Nm, mated to a new 10-speed automatic gearbox.
As expected, the Indian version of the facelifted Endeavour will not get this new engine-gearbox combination and will carry forward the current powertrain. Ford currently offers two engines with the Endeavour SUV - a 2.2-litre TDCi, which produces 160PS/385Nm and a 3.2-litre TDCi, which churns out 200PS/470Nm. However, we might see some updates to the engine with BSVI emission norms kicking in from 2020.
The 2018 Ford Everest will most likely go on sale in Thailand first before deliveries commence internationally. We expect it to arrive here sometime next year. Once launched, it will renew its rivalry with the Toyota Fortuner.
