Government needs to go forward faster fulfilling promises-PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the unity government needs to go forward faster to fulfill all the promises given to the people.

He said the public sent a message in February for the government to fulfill the promises it made and therefore the government has to continue to win the trust of the people.

The Prime Minister expressed these views addressing the 25th death anniversary of the late President Ranasinghe Premadasa today in Colombo.

“We can take the example of President Premadasa. I was closely associated with him. I had the chance to speak to him for the last time just before his death. His demise was a great loss for us,” the Premier said.

We should follow the lessons learned from President Premadasa in solving our problems and to go forward,” he said.

Speaking further the Premier said the village needs jobs and similarly, jobs in the public sector too should be provided. “However, we cannot go forward only by providing government jobs. Private sector employment needs to be increased. It has to create income sources.”
