Grand plans for Marx’s 200th birth anniversary

The district committee of CPI (M) has lined up a string of events to commemorate the ensuing 200th birth anniversary of the legendary philosopher, socialist and writer Karl Marx in the district, considered the traditional Left bastion.

The party has initiated elaborate arrangements to celebrate the day on a grand scale in the town and elsewhere in the district on May 5. Apart from holding meetings and rallies, seminars will be organised on varied themes to mark the occasion, the party sources said.

CPI (M) polit bureau member B.V. Raghavulu will address a seminar on the topic “Marxism-Neti Prapancham” at Rajpath function hall here at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The party State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram will speak on “Marxism Samakaleenatha Bhaarathadesha Pratyekathalu” at another seminar at the same venue at 6 p.m..

The seminars will focus on Marx’s enduring philosophy for contemporary world and the need for vigorous mass movements against capitalism to end exploitation of working class, party sources added.
