Two-day career conclave begins

A two-day career conclave organised by the Delhi government was inaugurated on Tuesday.

The conclave, held in hall number seven at Pragati Maidan, was attended by thousands of students from Classes X and XII of Delhi government schools.

Inaugurating the event, Principal Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava said the career conclave was the culmination of a career guidance and counselling programme that the Delhi government had launched for students, which includes online counselling as well as one-to-one guidance.

“If we are able to make our students aware of the opportunities available to them, we empower them to make the right choices as well as guide them to fulfil their aspirations. We hope that this career conclave, which is being organised for the first time, will be an eye-opener for our students, and also help them understand how to achieve their potential as well as fulfil their dreams,” Ms. Srivastava said.

The participants were divided into groups of about 20 each to spend time at a particular stall. The stalls which showcased various vocational courses attracted a lot of students, where they were introduced to various skill-enhancing courses that would help them in getting employed.

The government said approximately 60,000 students were expected to participate in the two-day conclave. They will also be exposed to various internship and apprenticeship opportunities apart from career guidance, the government added. The conclave is being organised after all schoolchildren had undergone psychometric tests to assess their interest, aptitude and personality.
