IPL 2018 Live Score DD vs RR: The bottom-placed Delhi Daredevils are in desperate need of a victory after suffering a 13-run defeat at the hands of table-toppers Chennai Super Kings. They will face an inconsistent Rajasthan Royals at home and the new skipper Shreyas Iyer will be hoping to repeat the way DD performed against KKR at home to pick up the much-needed win. The home side can take confidence from the fact that they have performed terrific with the bat in the previous two matches and will hope they can continue to do the same against Rajasthan. After the 11-run defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad in a low-scoring affair, RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane will also be eager to buck up and register a win.
Highlights
Here are the predicted XI for the IPL match between DD and RR:
DD: Prithvi Shaw, Colin Munro, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Glenn Maxwell, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia, Liam Plunkett, Amit Mishra, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan
RR: Rahul Tripathi, Ajinkya Rahane (C), Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Mahipal Lomror, Jos Buttler, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Ish Sodhi, Jaydev Unadkat
Ajinkya Rahane's team has been inconsistent this season as most times a win has been followed by a loss and they will also have to find a way to stem the rot if they have to make it to the play-offs. Rahane and Samson have been their best batsmen this season but inconsistent run of Ben Stokes and Jos Butler has affected their performance this season.
Shankar said they are doing most things right but small mistakes have resulted in losses. "We, as a team, are doing well but it is the small things which is changing the entire result of the game," he said. "We were chasing 80 from six overs or something against Chennai, we got close to the target, lost by 13 runs. We tried our best and we would look to move forward from this and look to do better and build ourself into a good team."
Teams:Delhi Daredevils: Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell, Gautam Gambhir, Jason Roy, Colin Munro, Mohammed Shami, Amit Mishra, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tewatia, Vijay Shankar, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Shahbaz Nadeem, Daniel Christian, Jayant Yadav, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Trent Boult, Manjot Kalra, Abhishek Sharma, Sandeep Lamichhane, Naman Ojha, Sayan Ghosh, Liam Plunkett, Junior Dala.
Rajasthan Royals: Ajinkya Rahane (captain), Ankit Sharma, Anureet Singh, Jofra Archer, Stuart Binny, Aryaman Birla, Jos Buttler, Dushmantha Chameera, Prashant Chopra, Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Heinrich Klaasen, Dhawal Kulkarni, Ben Laughlin, Mahipal Lomror, Sudhesan Midhun, Sanju Samson, Jatin Saxena, D'Arcy Short, Ish Sodhi, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Jaydev Unadkat.
After Gautam Gambhir stepped down as captain following a string of losses, Iyer was left with the responsibility of guiding the team to the play-offs and the young skipper did score a 40-ball unbeaten 93 to power his side to a massive 55-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders to renew hopes of a turnaround. But Monday's 13-run loss to Chennai Super Kings almost dashed all hopes of a comeback and Iyer has an uphill task of inspiring his team in the remaining matches to salvage any hopes of staying alive in the tournament.
Putting focus back on today's game between Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals, DD will have to treat each IPL game as a virtual knockout, starting with their clash against Rajasthan Royals. New-captain Shreyas Iyer has an uphill task of rejuvenating his side.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's Siddharth Kaul is the top wicket-taker in the current season of Indian Premier League with 11 wickets next to his name, followed by Trent Boult, also with 11 wickets.
Here is how the Orange Cap table looks after last night's IPL match between RCB and MI. CSK's Ambati Rayudu sits at the top of the table, twenty one runs ahead of RCB captain Virat Kohli.
In the IPL last night, Royal Challengers Bangalore finally defended a total as they picked up a 14-run victory against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians. After RCB were asked to bat first by MI, it was Manan Vohra who came out to open the innings and gave a good start to his side, scoring 45 runs in 31 balls. With Brendon McCullum, skipper Virat Kohli and Colin de Grandhomme chipping in the middle order, the home side gave the visitors a target of 168 to chase. But in spite of a 50-run inings from Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai side failed to chase down the total as none of the other batsmen could do much with the bat. Tim Southee, who took 2 wickets and gave just 25 runs in 4 overs was awarded the Man-of-the-match award.
Here's the scenario as far as the IPL table is concerned: Win for either RCB or MI and they move to six points from eight games to match Rajasthan Royals. Whoever wins, they are likely to leapfrog RR owing to Ajinkya Rahane's teams having a poor net run rate. A defeat for RCB by a significant margin and they are possibly going to drop to eighth in the standings - helping Delhi Daredevils to seventh. A defeat for MI is likely to see them move to seventh. A close margin and there might not be any change in the standings.
