Hawaiian Airlines drops in on industry to celebrate ‘the Month of Lei’ in May

Hawaiian Airlines and Hawaii Tourism Oceania (HTO) are celebrating Lei Day for the entire ‘the Month of Lei’, this May, sharing Hawaii’s world-renowned spirit of Aloha with travel agency and industry partners. The Airline of Hawaii and the tourism team visited Flight Centre and Helloworld yesterday to share the spirit of Aloha with flower lei, chocolates and Aloha Guides (see attached photos).

“Since 1927, May 1 is traditionally celebrated as Lei Day in Hawaii and this year we decided to once again share the aloha it represents with our travel industry ‘ohana’ (family) here in Australia,” said Hawaiian Airlines Regional Director Australia and New Zealand, Gai Tyrrell.

“Genuine love and care goes into the whole process of making a single lei. Hawaiians believe that as a lei is being made part of the mana (or spirit) of its creator is woven into the lei. That’s why being gifted a lei is such a special thing. When you receive it, you are receiving some of the spirit of its maker.”

To help celebrate Hawaiian Airlines has a special fare of $785* return between Sydney and Honolulu available for sale until midnight May 3, 2018, for travel between April 18 and June 20, 2018. No blackout periods apply. (*See the GDS channel for pricing and full terms and conditions).

The airline will also launch a global social media competition from May 1 (HST) asking fans to Ce-lei-brate Aloha by posting or uploading a photo depicting how they share aloha or how they have experienced aloha with the hashtags #CeLEIbrateAloha and #Contest for the chance to win flights and 4 nights accommodation at the Sheraton Waikiki.
