SA bakkie sales: Hilux on top, Mazda BT-50 makes the top 10

The Toyota Hilux ended April 2018 as the top selling bakkie in South Africa; not only does Toyota's flagship lead the bakkie top 10 but it was also the best-selling vehicle in South Africa with 2679 units.

The Hilux beat its closest rival, the Ford Ranger, by more than 300 units to secure the top spot.

Mazda joins the fray

The Ranger secured the second spot with 2372 units, ahead of the Isuzu KB with 1071 units sold. The Nissan NP200, a regular top three contender, slipped down to fourth place with 1058 units.

In fifth place the Nissan NP300/Hardbody is the first bakkie to dip below the 500-mark on 448 units, followed by the Nissan Navara on 261.
Volkswagen’s Amarok sits in seventh place after securing 208 units new owners, ahead of the Toyota Land Cruiser pick-up with 192.

In ninth place is the Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up on 130 units sold, and then the Mazda BT-50 rounding out the top ten on 106 units.
