2 schoolchildren hit by stones, CM promises action

The school bus of Rainbow International School was attacked with stones near Zavoora village in Shopian this morning.

Srinagar Two school-going children were injured after the bus they were travelling in were stoned by unidentified miscreants in Shopian on Wednesday. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said the perpetrators "will face action".

The school bus of Rainbow International School was attacked with stones near Zavoora village in Shopian this morning. “We have taken cognisance of the incident and have registered a case and further investigation will be taken up," said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Shopian, Shailendra Kumar Mishra.

Of two injured, Rehan Gorsai, a Class 2 student, was seriously injured and had been shifted to a Srinagar hospital.

“Shocked and angered to hear of the attack on a school bus in Shopian. The perpetrators of this senseless and cowardly act will be brought to justice,” said Ms. Mufti.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack. "How does pelting stones on school children or tourist buses help advance the agenda of these stone-pelters? These attacks deserve our unequivocal condemnation," wrote Mr. Abdullah on the Twitter.
