Recovery of bodies of a teenage lovers created tension in Sultanpur

Recovery of bodies of a teenage lovers on Tuesday morning created tension in Sultanpur as the killing was suspected to be `honour killing’. Both the victims were shot dead and later their bodies were dumped at the spot. 

Local police later registered a case in the matter and send both the bodies for post-mortem examination. It may be mentioned that the marriage of sister of the above youth is to take place just on Tuesday night.

Reports said that 19-year-old Renu, a resident of Hiyahi hamlet of Dostpur in Sultanpur was having an affair with 21-year-old Mohan Kumar, a resident of Kadipur area of the district.  Both wanted to get married but the girl’s family was against the affair. 

They warned Mohan of dire consequences but the couple went ahead with the marriage plan.  Finding no other way, the family members of the girl fixed her marriage with another youth and the function is to take place on coming Friday.

Reports said that on Monday evening, Renu called Mohan and asked him to meet her.  Mohan’s father Raj Bhadhur, alleged that his son not returned home in the night after that. He said that they were worried as his daughter’s marriage is fixed for Tuesday evening.

He said that on Tuesday morning, they learnt through the villagers that the bodies of both Mohan and Renu are lying near the pond at Hiyahi hamlet of Dostpur. He said that they rushed and found that both the victims were shot dead by some unknown miscreants. He suspected that Renu’s family had orchestrated the killing in the name of saving family pride.

SP Sultanpur, Amit Verma claimed that they were yet to draw any conclusion so they were probing the matter to find out the truth. He said that they found the weapon used to shot the victims lying few meters away from the bodies so they were also looking into the suicide angel.
