Indore: Raj Bhawan has filled as many as five positions out of 13, which were lying vacant in the 22-member executive council of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) for past several months. “Chancellor Anandiben Patel has appointed two members in professor’s category and three in principal capacity in the EC,” said vice-chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad.
School of Chemical Sciences head Dr Ashok Sharma and Dr AB Bajaj have been appointed in the professor’s category and Old GDC principal Sumitra Vaskel and Kusumlata Nigwal and one other in principal’s category.
As per rules, the EC should have 22 members. But it was running with 9 members including two academicians – vice-chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad, and KN Chaturvedi, representative of Higher education department. The rest six members were nominees of the Chancellor who were non-academicians.
As per norms, the EC of DAVV should consist of four members each from dean and principal’s categories, two from professor’s category, and three from the university senate, six members nominated by the chancellor as his representatives and two members nominated by the state government as its representatives.
The Chancellor has filled both the seats of professor’s category and three posts of principal’s category. However, the deans’ positions, three from the university court and one position of principal’s category are lying vacant. “The Chancellor is expected to fill those posts also shortly,” Dhakad said. The V-C said that the process for constituting of the senate will also be held shortly. This will fill its reserved quota in the EC.
