Hilliard Bradley High School drama students will present the classic tale of a farm girl’s imaginary journey with three new friends on a yellow brick road.
"The Wizard of Oz" will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at Bradley's performing-arts center, 2800 Walker Road.
Tickets are $12 and available at the door and in advance at localevel.com.
“We chose this classic because there are many fun elements to doing it live,” director Mary Randle said. “It also fits the talent that we have this year.”
That talent includes senior Sonia Clark as Dorothy, junior Cayden Ferguson as the cowardly Lion in search of courage, senior Levi Gardner as the Scarecrow in search of a brain and senior Keaton Headley as the Tin Man in search of a heart.
The play is based on the book by L. Frank Baum published in 1900. In 1939, it was adapted into the well-known film with actress Judy Garland as the protagonist, Dorothy Gale.
“Everyone loves seeing the Wicked Witch and Dorothy and the journey that takes place to get Dorothy home," Randle said. "The friendships that are made and how they are strong enough to make it to Oz and back home. We have many surprises in store and can't wait to share this classic story with everyone."
