PAWTUCKET — Stephen Gonsalves allowed one hit in 7 2/3 innings and led the Rochester Red Wings to a 2-0 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox on Tuesday night at McCoy Stadium.


 


The PawSox, who for the third time this season played as Los Osos Polares in partnership with Minor League Baseball to celebrate the team’s Hispanic community at Tuesday night games, were limited to three hits in dropping their third straight game.

PAWTUCKET — Stephen Gonsalves allowed one hit in 7 2/3 innings and led the Rochester Red Wings to a 2-0 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox on Tuesday night at McCoy Stadium.

 

The PawSox, who for the third time this season played as Los Osos Polares in partnership with Minor League Baseball to celebrate the team’s Hispanic community at Tuesday night games, were limited to three hits in dropping their third straight game.

 

Gonsalves, who struck out five and walked one, allowed a one-out single to Jordan Betts in the second inning and then cruised until he allowed a leadoff walk to begin the eighth.

 

Pawtucket starter Justin Haley allowed two runs in five innings, scattering seven hits, striking out five and walking none.

 

Pawtucket center fielder Rusney Castillo singled in the ninth inning to stretch his on-base streak to 13 games.

 

Kennys Vargas hit a two-out homer to right-center in the fifth inning to give Rochester a 1-0 lead. Leonardo Reginatto then singled and advanced to third on a balk and wild pitch. Jake Cave doubled to make it 2-0.
