Rajkot: The Western Railway’s Bhavnagar division began a crackdown to recover revenue loss to railways. The division is conducting intensive checks regularly to curb various irregularities.
In April, the division detected 8,493 cases of irregularities of which 5,154 included of ticketless travel, 1,185 of commuters travelling in higher class and 2,141 of unbooked luggage. It recovered Rs 32.88 lakh and registered its performance surpassing its previous record of Rs. 28.51 lakh in November 2016.
The division also booked 13 passengers, who were fined Rs 2,100 for violation of Indian Railways Act for causing inconvenience to fellow commuters.
