FCA: Jeep and Dodge rise while Ram, Chrysler and Fiat decline

DETROIT -- Sales at FCA US climbed 4.5 percent in April to 184,149 vehicles on the strength of a 20 percent gain from Jeep. The company's fleet mix was 22 percent for the month, up from 17 percent a year ago, while retail sales fell 1 percent.

Brands: Jeep up 20%; Ram down 9%; Chrysler down 18%; Fiat down 45%; Dodge up 39%; Alfa Romeo 1,847 vehicles.

Notable nameplates: Ram pickup down 9.4%; Chrysler Pacifica down 2.4%; Jeep Cherokee up 20%; Jeep Grand Cherokee down 12%; Jeep Wrangler up 58%; Jeep Compass up 227%; Dodge Journey up 39%; Alfa Romeo Stelvio, sales of 702 vehicles.

Incentives: $4,685 per vehicle, up 7.5% from a year earlier, according to ALG.

Average transaction price: $34,281, up 4.1% from a year earlier, ALG says.

Fleet mix: 22%. Retail deliveries down 1%.

Inventory: 603,628 vehicles, a 79-day supply, flat from 79 in March.

Did you know? Sales of the Jeep Wrangler set an all-time record for the second consecutive month and are up 42 percent through April while the company was ramping up production of the new JL model and winding down production of the previous JK model, boosting availability well above where it has been historically. JK production ended Friday, but FCA reports a 63-day supply of unsold Wranglers on hand.
