27,000 fined for violating helmet rule

The closing day of the Road Safety Week held between April 23 and April 29 by the State Transport and Commerce Department in Ganjam was held here. Apart from a meeting, a number of programmes were conducted to sensitise the public to maintain safety while driving. The police administration claimed that a record number 27,000 persons driving without helmet were penalised in Ganjam so far. IMV Bhanjanagar delivered a brief introduction. A short documentary film developed by Sub-Collector Brahmapur on traffic problem and the activities during the Safety Week were screened. A Nukkad Natak was presented by the students of Jayshree Public School, Ganjam.
