Kota institutes claim over 40,000 selections in JEE Main

Kota, a coaching hub in the country, has grabbed the lion’s share in the Joint Entrance Examination, Main (JEE Main) 2017 results announced on Monday.

Going by the claims made by the district coaching institutes, more than 40,000 students from different coaching institutes of Kota have qualified for the JEE Advanced 2018 and around three dozen students have found place among top 100 all India rank (AIR) holders.

In all, around 2.31 lakh students have been declared qualified for the JEE Advanced 2018, which is an entrance test for admission to IITs in the country.

Though the institutes were in the process of compiling the results, Kota’s Resonance Eduventures Private Limited has so far claimed 11,234 selections in the JEE Mains 2018. RK Verma, the managing director of Resonance Coaching Institute, claimed that 12 students of the institute have clinched ranks in the top-200 AIRs. Pawan Goyal is the top rank holder of the institute with AIR 6.

Similarly, Allen Career Institute, which saw selection of 15,000 students in the last year’s JEE Main, claims to cross the mark this year. Naveen Maheshwari of the institute said that two students have found place in the top-10 AIRs. Allen’s classroom programme student Parth Laturia has obtained AIR 3 with 350 marks. Bhaskar Gupta of the institute scored 345 marks and secured AIR 7. “Total 24 students of Allen Career Institute are in top-100, 48 students in top-200, 109 students in top-500 and 204 in top-1000 ranks,” claimed Maheshwari.

Career Point Institute has claimed selection of more than 2,562 students for the JEE Advanced 2018. “Our 5 students have grabbed AIR in top-200 merit,” said Shailendra Maheshwari, the director of Career Point, Kota.

Around 641 students of Bansal Classes have also qualified for the JEE Advanced, claimed AK Tiwari, the senior vice president of the institute. He claimed students grabbing AIR 6 and AIR 13 were from their distance learning programme.

Motion Education claimed its 2,169 students have qualified for the JEE Advanced. Nitin Vijay, the director of the institute, said that the student with AIR 71 was from their institute.

Around 1,200 students of Vibrant Academy have also qualified for the JEE Advanced. Rakesh Sharma, the senior manager of the institute, said that their three students have found place in top-100 AIRs.

Rao IIT claimed selection of over 3,000 students. BV Rao of the institute said that their four students have found place in top 100 AIRs.

Aakash Institute also claimed that its eight students have secured place in the top-100 AIRs. “We are proud to share that our classroom programme students in general category, Lakshay Gupta captured AIR 53 with 326 marks in JEE Main 2018, followed by Sanchit Agrawal, who captured AIR 57 with 325 marks,” said Aakash Chaudhry, the director of the institute. Several smaller coaching institutes and tuition classes of Kota have also claimed selections in the JEE Main 2018.

More than 11 lakh candidates had registered for the JEE Main examination. Of them, 10.74 lakh candidates appeared for the test and 2,31,024 qualified for the JEE Advance examination, scheduled to be held on May 20.

This year, the cut-off marks are 74 for the general category, 45 for the OBC, 29 for the SC and 24 for the ST, whereas the cut-off for the physically handicapped students is 35. The JEE Main scores are used for admission to around 26,000 seats available in 31 NITs, 21 IIIT and 20 GFTI.

Online registration for JEE Advanced to start on May 2

The registration for JEE Advanced examination will begin on May 2. The fee for the examination will be Rs 2,600 for general and OBC category students, Rs 1,300 for SC/ST students and Rs 1300 for all other students. The successful students can enroll themselves for the JEE Advanced examination till May 7. The results will be announced on June 10.

This year, JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted by IIT Kanpur. The examination will be conducted online at 155 examination centres in the country on May 20.
