Bill English appointed as director of Wesfarmers video

Bill English has big plans for the future.

Former prime minister Bill English has been appointed to the board of Australian retail giant Wesfarmers.

Wesfarmers owns Kmart, Target, Bunnings Warehouse and Australian supermarket chain Coles, among other businesses.

The company has a sharemarket value of A$49.5 billion (NZ$53b).

Former prime minister Bill English is now a Wesfarmers director.

Wesfarmers chairman Michael Chaney said English had an "outstanding record" in finance and policy development in New Zealand.

English became acting prime minister in December 2016 after Sir John Key resigned.

Key has since joined the boards ofAir New Zealand and ANZ.
