LUDHIANA: Unidentified criminals allegedly strangulated a 33-year-old woman and decamped with cash and valuables from her house on 33-feet road in Jamalpur area on Tuesday.
The woman, identified as Nidhi Arora, was alone at her house at the time of incident.
According to reports, Nidhi's husband Varinder, an accountant by profession, had gone for work while her daughter was at school.
Her husband called her in the afternoon a couple of times but his calls went unanswered. Thereafter, Varinder called his mother, who lives in the same locality, to visit the house.
After sometime, Varinder's mother picked her granddaughter from school and reached their house to find the main door open. When she entered the house, she found it ransacked and Nidhi's lifeless on the bed.
She alerted Nidhi's neighbours who informed the police.
Nidhi was rushed to a nearby private hospital where she was declared brought dead.
The additional deputy commissioner of police Rajveer Singh Boparai said that the police are checking the CCTVs camera footage of the area and they will proceed further after initial inquiry.
The official said that no injury marks were found on Nidhi's body.
The police suspect that miscreants strangulated the woman.
