HONDA: Slow sales for several key vehicles

American Honda Motor Co.'s U.S. sales fell 9.2 percent in April due to the slower performance of key models such as the Accord, Civic and CR-V.

the results were impacted by having two fewer selling days compared with the previous April.

Bright spots for Honda included Odyssey minivan, which had a 21 percent boost, and the Pilot midsize crossover's 22 percent jump.

But the Accord continued its struggles as sales dropped 19 percent, and dealers are looking for more help to move the reigning North American Car of the Year.

One Midwest dealer is annoyed that Honda would rather trim production of the Accord rather than incentivize it. "That's such short thinking on their part," the dealer said.

Brands: Honda down 8.4%; Acura down 16%

Notable nameplates: Accord down 19%; Civic down 9%; Fit down 18%; CR-V down 13%; HR-V down 14%; Odyssey up 21%; Pilot up 22%; Ridgeline down 23%.

Incentives: Down 8.7% to $1,652 per unit.

Average transaction price: Up 2.1% to $27,745.
