Victim out of danger, say police

A day after an orthopaedist was allegedly shot at by unidentified assailants outside his south Delhi farmhouse on Sunday, five men were detained in connection with the attack, the police said.

“We have formed police teams and several suspects are under the scanner. We have called several people named by the victim in his complaint for questioning. The case is under investigation. We have got significant leads in the case,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya on Monday.

Hans Nagar was seriously injured in the incident, the police said, adding that he is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gurugram. “The doctors said he is out of danger. We will contact him after seeking permission from his doctors,” said a senior police officer.

Property dispute

“We have asked the victim’s family to join the investigation. He has been involved in a property dispute with his brother since their mother died in 2013. The dispute was over ownership of nine farmlands in Fatehpur Beri,” the officer said.

“His three daughters stay with him at the farmhouse, while his son and another daughter are settled abroad,” an officer said.
