Richard "Boatman" Alvin Perrow, Sr., age 88, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018. He was the husband of Ethel Burks Perrow for 68 years. Born on November 15, 1929, in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Leon Perrow and the late Fannie Mae Perrow. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Perrow; two sisters, Zadell Burns and Louise Leffel; as well as a half-brother, Bernis Morris. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard "Rick" Alvin Perrow, Jr. and wife, Janet; three daughters, Diane Nickerson and husband, Arthur, Melissa Edwards, and Kathy Wood and husband, Philip; a brother, Larry Perrow, Sr.; and five grandchildren, Cynthia Trent and husband, Marvis, Bryan Perrow and wife, Angie, Shawn Palmer and wife, Tonya, Heather Nickerson, and Nathan Nickerson and wife, Jessica. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren. Services will be private. The family requests that flowers be omitted and suggests, donations be made to Centra Hospice. Whitten Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Park Avenue Chapel, is serving the family.
