U.S. equity markets opened lower on Tuesday as investors remained cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting as well as uncertainty surrounding global trade. Despite a solid earnings season with double-digit growth that largely has been above expectations, markets have been unable to fully recover from a 10% drop in February. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 75 points, or 0.3%, to 24,086. The S&P 500 index declined 3 points, or 0.1% to 2,643. Meanwhile the Nasdaq Composite was down 12 points, or 0.2% to 7,054 at the open. Among the worst performers on the S&P 500, Tapestry Inc shares slumped 14% after quarterly earnings.
