MACHILIPATNAM (AP):
YSR Congress chief Y S
Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday categorically stated that his party would not have any alliance in the next elections. However, he would consider extending support to the party whichever promised
special category status (SCS) to the State.
Addressing an impressive gathering at the historical Koneru Centre in the town, Jagan Mohan Reddy wanted the people to ensure the victory of 25 MPs from the State to get the SCS. He said that both the Congress and BJP have betrayed the people on SCS. The two parties have lost the confidence of the people and he would not trust either of them. However, he said he would consider supporting the party whichever gives in writing promising SCS unconditionally.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said he would acquire 4,800 acres of land for the Machilipatnam Port and would not take lands from the people in the name of industrial corridors or development. “I would take whatever is required and ensure that priority in employment is given to those whose lands were acquired,” he said.
The YSR Congress chief also promised free houses for the poor. He said he would give fully constructed houses to the beneficiaries without asking for their share. He also promised to develop imitation jewellery park in Marchilipatnam town, which was initially promised by late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy who had allocated 42 acres of land. However, the project was shelved by Chandrababu Naidu, he said and promised to develop it.
Jagan Mohan Reddy also promised to create village secretariats with young volunteers from all castes to implement the welfare programmes of the government.
