Shopify Inc. shares fell 5.7% in Tuesday premarket trading after the cloud-based commerce platform reported deeper year-over-year losses. First quarter net loss was $15.9 million, or 16 cents per share, after a loss of $12.2 million, or 15 cents per share, for the same period last year. Adjusted EPS was 4 cents per share. Revenue for the quarter was $214.3 million, up from $127.4 million. The FactSet consensus was for a loss of 5 cents and revenue of $202.0 million. For the second quarter, Shopify expects revenue in the range of $230 million to $235 million. The FactSet consensus is $228.4 million. And for the full year, the company expects revenue in the range of $1.0 billion and $1.01 billion. The FactSet consensus is $997.6 million. Shopify shares are up 32.3% for the year so far while the S&P 500 index is down 1% for the period.
