TDP, BJP spar on Twitter over CM’s ‘deeksha’

Tirupati meet trended above IPL matches!

The war of words between the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the BJP on the micro-blogging site Twitter reached a feverish pitch on Monday as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu again trained his guns in Tirupati on the BJP-led NDA government for the injustice allegedly meted out by it to the State.

The agenda of the Tirupati meeting was trending with the hashtag #CBNdharmaporatam, above the IPL matches which have been consistently at the top around that time.

The TDP leaders and supporters of the Chief Minister’s ‘Dharma Porata Deeksha’ including the likes of ‘CBN Army’, ‘WorldWide TDPSupporters’ took potshots at the BJP for betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh.

A tweet from a section of them expressed anguish that the government of India did not have the courtesy to keep the promises made in Parliament and asserted that people were not begging.

Another tweet ‘Modi Govinda Govinda’ summed up their feelings.

The BJP Andhra Pradesh and former Ministers ran a campaign against Mr. Naidu with the hashtag #CBNfooledap.

The official twitter handle ‘BJP Andhra Pradesh’ was replete with its argument that it was the TDP government which failed to avail itself of the assistance provided by the Centre.

One of its tweets was: “People of A.P. want to know how much money from State government’s treasury CBN is spending for his meeting at Tirupati today (sic)”.

Kamineni’s tweet

Former Minister and MLA Kamineni Srinivas tweeted: “If CBN eats it may cost 500 rupees for one day. If CBN fasts it costs 30 crores for the state for a single day (sic).”
