Tamizharasan is accused of siphoning off ₹2.30 cr. from solatium awarded

The CB-CID has registered a case against an advocate who had appeared on behalf of the parents of the Kumbakonam school fire victims, following a complaint that he had defrauded them. The action was taken following a directive from the Madras High Court.

Armed with the High Court fiat, R. Divya, 22, of Chatram Karuppur Main Road, Kumbakonam, on Sunday filed a complaint with the DSP, CB-CID, Thanjavur, alleging that the advocate, Tamizharasan, had misappropriated ₹2.30 crore, which was granted as solatium to the parents of the victims.

A total of 94 children were killed and scores injured in the fire that struck the Sri Krishna Middle School on July 16, 2004.

The complainant had stated that Tamizharasan of East Tambaram, Chennai, had promised to help the victims’ families get justice through the court without any expectation.
