The mother fought all odds to resume her education and attain a degree from college.
A mother in Saudi Arabia attained her dream of completing her education and graduated from college. What is more amusing is the fact that, Saleha Assiri, was able to graduate along with her daughter Maram from the same university.
Assiri, who was unable to finish high school before she got married, graduated in media and communications from King KhalidUniversity while her daughter graduated in business.
Assiri told in an interview with Al Arabiya that she fought all odds to resume her education and attain a degree from college. She further said that she aspires to find a job to support her children. "I've always loved learning but I did not finish my high school education as I married early and moved to the eastern region," Assiri said. She added that after her children were born it became even more difficult for her to resume her education.
How she never gave up
The idea of getting back to studies came to Assiri due to her mother's constant encouragement. Assiri returned to Abha a couple of years ago after her daughter finished middle school and was persuaded by her mother to continue her education. "Although I am a housewife and have so many responsibilities, I adapted with the idea of learning again," Assiri said.
An estatic Assiri added, "The day I was accepted into college was like a feast for me." Sadly for Assiri her mother died last year and did not get a chance to see her graduate. Assiri added that her children and friends supported her by taking care of home and her education.
